SILVERNAIL - PETERSON

"DUCK CLUB"

What a way to start the day. They wonder why we get up at 4:00 AM!

Thank you for the opportunity to give you a brief guided tour of Silvernail- Peterson Duck Club.
Our club currently encompasses approximately 6,000 with 9 parcels extending form Gray Lodge (west of Gridley) to one mile south of Nelson.
All of our properties are proven and located in the flyway. Parcels range from 277 acres with 2-4 person blinds to approximately 900 acres with 8-4 person blinds.
We pride ourselves in providing lots of room per blind. We do hunt two areas different than the rest. Mostly, you will purchase a 4 person blind for the season and remain in this blind unless you get written permission from a fellow club member to use his or her blind.
On the other two areas we use the rotation system where you are responsible for decoying and brushing one blind then every day you will rotate to a different blind.
There are mixed emotions about which system works best but we have found that as long as there is a choice, we have done our best to please. As long as the rules are obeyed both systems work excellent.
All of our clubs shoot daily. We have found that with the majority of our hunters from the bay area and with the amount of surrounding water that our ponds afford plenty of resting time.
It was a major problem on one of our parcels in the 99-00 season when all 5 blinds were hardly ever shot. Every time Larry or I would drive by mallards and sprig would be just lounging around without a care in the world.
We would get on the phone to the hunters and maybe one blind would show up, causing the birds to sit all around the blind being shot.
Many of these members had 2 or 3 blinds so it's not their fault, it's just very disheartening to have your phone ring at night with requests to hunt a property that would be shot more often by other members.
MY POINT.
There is such a thing as too little pressure.
When it comes to the waterfowl hunting club business there are many good to excellent clubs that are all well managed.
In no way is it feasible to say we are the best, but we are near the top, utilizing an abundance of experience, good and bad, to give you the best hunting experience imaginable.
